Sony Ericsson W960i Full Review

Sony Ericsson W960i Full Review

I had a chance to get my hands on the latest Walkman-branded UIQ handset from Sony Ericsson, the W960i, for a while, and the full review is now live over at MobileBurn.com. The W960i sports a touchscreen interface with a 3.2 megapixel camera and dual-LED flash attached to the back of the handset. The display is a large 2.6″ QVGA touchscreen that felt a bit mushy, to be honest.

The handset itself is built like a rock, with no creaks or anything, very solid. However, the stylus was embarrassingly cheap feeling. Overall, I was rather disappointed in the W960i, but you can read through the whole review here.

  1. Your summary says “Not recommended” and the box says “Recommended”. A type I assume.

Btw, since you are now at Mobileburn.. the “Not recommended”, Recommended” and “Highly recommended” is to me a bit too crude. I would guess about 80% of the reviews give a “Recommended” rating. It would be nice to have a bit more nuanced ratings than that (although I do realise the summaries are much more informative and each person has his/her own preferences).

  2. Thanks for the tip. I thought we’d fixed that inconsistency, but apparently not. It should be fixed now (or soon).

As to the ratings, I’ve voiced my opinions internally, but it’s not really my site, so not my call. If you click on the ‘Explanations’ link, it gives a bit more insight into the terms.

I think the goal is to prevent you from skimming over and then just hitting the end results. We want you to read the whole thing, dangit! :)

  3. I am shocked how you failed to see there are keypad shortcuts for most camera functions including the flash (it’s ‘*’ to toggle it on and off IIRC).Also pressing ‘0′ in the camera app brings up a map of the keypad shortcuts so you don’t need to memorise them all. If want to review stuff besides your beloved s60, pay more attention next time
