Ultra-Hot: N95-3 Firmware V20.2.011 Available

Users over at HowardForums picked up the new firmware first, which I’m extremely excited to pass along to you out there! Users are reporting that firmware version v20.2.011 is finally available for the Nokiai N95-3, FINALLY bringing the red-headed stepchild up to par with its family.

Flash Lite 3 has been confirmed, although UDP (User Data Preservation) is not currently supported. ASR (auto screen rotation) is also not present in this update, though there are several apps on the market that can accomplish this for you, should you want it (I find it a nuisance, personally).

A few users are also reporting that the firmware update might not show up the first time NSU checks, so feel free to click that ‘check again’ button a few times.

  1. Yes! FINALLY (what, its been over 6 months.. woah.. an eternity indeed).. ;) :D No, seriously, I am happy for all the N95 owners!

  2. yeah tell me about it *downloading*

man ive never been soo hyped up :p lol

  3. This might be a dumb question..
but how can i tell what kind of n95 i have..
i always see n95-3 and other numbers on this site but i’m totally not sure what number i have..

  4. Already installed it, looks nice. Flash Lite 3 confirmed, i’ve been doing somo Youtube from the desktop version, and to tell you the truth, I prefer MobiTubia. I believe its great to have it directly in the browser and also it simplifies a lot, to see a video right there when you are reading a post on some blog, but it would be the same to just open Mobitubia without closing the Browser and search for the video and play it. Its faster(the page you are on gets kinda laggy to move around when watching the vid on the browser) and a lot smoother. Also, the browser version sacrifices some real estate for the status bar below which cant be removed so its not even an actual fullscreen version.

As of the rest of the niceties of the firmware, I havent tried them yet. I suppose tomorrow I’ll try WRT with the WeatherBug widget and the booting time is certainly a lot faster. I dont believe there are any more improvements than that. I dont believe the camera is snappier or even the OS itself, but maybe Im wrong and I just cant tell the diff.

  5. One question. If I proceed with the update, the new firmware will erase all the data I have in my N95, including contancts and calendar, and also all the programs I have installed? Will a memory card backup or backup using the Nokia software, help me avoid this?

  6. Well I installed it, had to borrow my room mate laptop with xp cuz vista is not supported.

After installation the device reseted, some of the applications installed automatically and some not, tried to do it manually but had the same experience, gladly I backed up everything just before updating, and before I restored I was playing with it, the camera was faster the os a little bit faster, and the menu structure was redisigned, then played with WRT and tested mobitubia since the other firmware was sluggish connecting with ATT 3G, now I can see every video I wish. After restoring it was like more than 30 mins, the phone prompted me to reboot and had some errors appear, I just ignored them and got my contacts and events back, my settings were back and everything, I had some spare time and redisigned and moved some programs with new folders.

I am glad I finally got the new firmware, although the process was very difficult and needed some patience.

  7. I’ve installed the new firmware and I can confirm that the camera operates much more quickly…instead of the excuriatingly slow load times between photos…the camera starts right up now…finally!

  8. How can I download the latest version on my N95-3 if I have Vista in my pc? Thanks

“ASR (auto screen rotation) is also not present in this update”

The above quotation is not correct “The Guru”, find the steps to activate auto rotation below:

    Menu–>Tools–>Settings–>General–>Personalisation–>Display–>Rotate Screen–>Automatic/Off
