Friday Fun: Stealth Your Phone

Friday Fun: Stealth Your Phone

This week’s Friday Fun comes to us courtesy of Pizero, with help from P@sco, who has put together a very interesting and creative theme, called ‘Stealth’. The Stealth theme consists of a solid black background with grey text and - get this - NO icons! That’s right, Pizero has simply replaced each application icon with a blank black box, removing them from the theme. The result is an extremely clean and simple theme, with the absolute most minimal UI ever.

There are two versions of Stealth; one still shows the clock and operator logo, and the other, Full Stealth, conceals even these, so that your home screen only shows the signal and battery indicators. Of course, for those who can’t bear the lack of graphics, there are versions of each theme with the default icons, but I think you’re missing the point if you use those, really.

While obviously not something I would use on a normal basis, Stealth is evidence that you can still be extremely creative on S60, even just by changing the theme. Excellent work to Pizero for coming up with such a new and different idea!

  1. I’ve used that theme before.
Unfortunately as Nokia took away the Themes icon it takes some time to change the theme to another one.

This is especially useful if you want to use your phone for e.g. tracking of accounting purposes.

But no doubt it is pretty cool and good for the eyes when sitting in poorly lighted room.

  2. Exactly the kind of theme I’ve been looking for. I’ll give it a try. I would like one with sort of a “Newpaper print/times new roman on white/offwhite background only, no icons” theme.

  3. That’s cool. Too bad it wouldn’t work for my phone. It should be customized for all phones…
