LG KT610 Review: Gaming
After taking a look at the music and hardware, one thing I noticed is that the form factor of the LG KT610 really lends itself to gaming. The landscape orientation of the internal display and keyboard layout make it easy to hold the handset as you would a portable gaming console such as the Nintendo DS. Unfortunately, as has been the case with other Nokia software, the LG is not compatible with Nokia’s N-Gage platform, which is a real shame, as I think it would do great on this handset.
However, I was able to dig up a few games from our newly launched store, and there are a myriad of java games designed for the landscape display of the Nokia E61 that would work great on the display. Clearly the handset does not offer any hardware gaming accelleration, and only comes preinstalled with a version of Shrek III that is completely in Italian (to be truthful, the unit I have is branded with 3 Italia).
So, for gaming, I have to give the LG KT610 a 2 out of 5 stars, sadly. However, I want to point out it’s not entirely LG’s fault. The hardware is there. The sad fact is that the software simply is not available. Nokia’s N-Gage platform is currently locked to a small number of handsets, which is a huge shame for the S60 platform in general.
If you can find java games in 320×240 landscape format, then I believe the LG KT610 would offer a really fun gaming experience.
