More N78 Coverage

More N78 Coverage

Wow, I’m gone for a week and the Nokia N78 completely takes to the streets! Several bloggers have gotten their hands on full production models, and are taking to exploring every nook and cranny of the new handset, as well as S60v3 Feature Pack 2, as the N78 is the first FP2 model to be commercially available.

Jonathan Greene, at Atmaspheric Endeavors, is checking out the new Remote Disk feature, which looks like it allows you to access any network connected storage device.

Meanwhile, over at TheSymbianBlog, they’ve discovered that all N78s are not created equal, as some local governments do not allow FM Transmitters. There’s a handy page at Nokia which can help you determine if it’s legal in your area, but you should expect that some regional variants of the N78 will be missing the FM Transmitter feature.

If you’re really intereseted in the handset, I’ll also redirect you to the set of videos that Nokia Conversations dug up with Joeske Schellen, the designer of the N78. Pretty interesting, as she gives a bit of insight into why certain design decisions were made.

Don’t forget, also, to check out AllAboutSymbian’s Insight podcast number 28, in which they chat briefly about the N78, among other topics. They’ve also done a walkaround of the hardware, you can check that out here.

Me? I still think it’s an ugly design, but I also know that I’m pretty picky, and that my idea of ‘good design’ differs greatly from most people’s. I’ve no doubts that the N78 will be a hot seller whenever it hits the U.S. Are you going to get one?
