Nokia E66 Slides Into Reality

Nokia E66 Slides Into Reality

After tons of leaks, the Nokia E66 was officially announced this morning, joining the rest of the Eseries product line. The Nokia E66 includes a built-in accelerometer, which will offer auto screen-rotation out of the box, and provide support for the growing number of accelerometer-based applications available. The Nokia E66 also offers a new Eseries exclusive dual-Home Screen feature, with customizable business and personal views and various active-standby plugins.

The Nokia E66 has received the gift of multimedia, as well, with a respectable 3.2 megapixel camera with autofocus and QVGA-quality video recording. A built-in microSD card slot will allow for plenty of extra storage, though the 2.5mm audio port limits the ability to enjoy any music.

The most important thing is that the Nokia E66 will offer quad-band GSM (850/900/1800/1900MHz) and will be available in three different dual-band WCDMA versions: 850/1900MHz (For AT&T’s 3G network), 900/2100MHz (For use in Europe) and 850/2100MHz (I believe this is for Australia?). WiFi is also on board, as well as GPS with A-GPS support for faster lock-ons.

The Nokia E66 is planned to be available in Q3 2008, priced at EUR 350 (US$540). It will be available in either grey or white steel color schemes.

  1. Don’t know about Australia but 850/2100 WCDMA for brazilian users means we can use E66 anywhere in the country. Our four major operators (TIM, Vivo, Claro and Oi) use one of these two frequencies (some of then even use both, depending of the state - e.g TIM).

  2. [...] Why geeks like you and me love to watch unboxing videos is a complete mystery, even to us. However, we *do* love them, and my friend Norman over at SymbianWorld has already gotten his grubby mits on the Nokia E66 that was just announced on Monday! [...]
