This does not work in most cases unfortunately.

Been trying that trick, but I unplugged the USB cable and turned off my phone during that time.

I ended up having to find a machine with XP and update.

Haven’t tried the method without unplugging the cable or without powering off the phone as I currently have the latest firmware.

This didn’t work for me either when I tried it last weekend. It downloaded the update fine but failed about 15% into the flashing process with an error message I cant remember. Luckily after removing the cable and battery the phone was still alive.

Interesting, but I think I’ll wait for the Updater to be, well, updated to support Vista. Or I’ll seek out my dad’s XP machine.

I did this when the firmware first hit.. No prob at all with the update, although, i did install the firmware twice. Everything went fine both times but the first time around, certain apps would not install, like internet radio. I decided to do the firmware install again and everything has since installed perfect.

    Try this:
For those using Vista, you can still update. When updating, a driver will fail and NSU will get stuck with 15 minutes remaining. Don’t touch your phone at all, kill NSU with the Task Manager, restart NSU, and it will finish in recovery mode.

It seemed to work for me but unfortunately the latest update is still 7.40! How long will it be until there’s an update? So much for buying an unlocked phone.

I have been trying for a while now to update not only my phone, but also I’m havning trouble even installing the software updater on to my PC, thinking it was a security issue, allowing it through firewalls etc, doesn’t amount to nothing, still sitting on first base, and just about ready to give in.
Took my phone into a Vodafone reseller, and he processed things perfectly fine, don’t know hie OS but was easy and simple, why won’t Vista get over itself and pass VBScript?
