Sims 2 Pets Hits N-Gage, Batman Coming

Sims 2 Pets Hits N-Gage, Batman Coming

In case you missed it, last night N-Gage received another game, the Sims 2: Pets. Basically the N-Gage version of Nintendogs, which is a hit on the Nintendo DS platform, Sims 2: Pets allows you to create your persona, and then adopt the puppy of your choosing, which you play with and teach and nurture. Alot like Tamagotchi’s, only with better graphics.

If you think that sounds like a really lame game – you’re wrong. Seriously, it sounds pretty lame, but in reality, I found it to be rather addicting, for a number of reasons. First,  who doesn’t love puppies? Second, there’s a wealth of different activities to do with your new pet, and you get immediate satisfaction – there’s no need to perform the same task over and over again to see the effects. I did not purchase it yet, so I don’t know if you can arrange playdates with other puppies, or better yet, visit a Dog Park in the ether, but even without those, it’s definitely a fun game. Christina’s already informed me that I’ll be buying it for her to play on her N81 8GB.

I also found out today that there will be a new Batman…er…..excuse me, ‘The Dark Knight’ game coming to the N-Gage platform later this year. Now, I have to say publicly that I think not naming these new Batman movies with the word ‘Batman’ in them is as lame as it gets, but as a die-hard Batman fan, I’m willing to look past that.

In any case, over at the N-Gage blog, Ikona has reminded us that Glu Mobile will be putting together a special version of its upcoming The Dark Knight mobile game, complete with N-Gage specific levels and other content. Can’t wait, I’ll be purchasing that one, for sure.

Thus far, what’s your favorite N-Gage game, and what are you looking forward to the most?

  1. If I could get N-Gage to actually START on my handset I might get excited about this news.

  2. Tested it out when it was released recently. (2 days ago depending on where you are in the world).

One little issue is that when you try to customize your sim you get the pop-up asking you to input your activation key or buy the game.

Just click cancel and it will go back to the demo.
(This issue has been written about in allaboutngage.com)

From what I see it, it is just like the Petz, Dogz, Catz or The Sims 2 Pets java games except for the point pickups you get. The latter I haven’t tried, but I assume that it is the same when it comes to gameplay.
(That is apparently true for many of the games out there)

One game I would like to see come out soon is the Dirk Dagger game. As that game and One looks quite promising.
(Don’t know if that one is new to N-gage as N-gage was not that popular and the games they offered were minimal here in Norway)

I think that Sims 2 Pets looks quite nice, though a little lag on my N82. Still considering if I should buy it as the game is not that addictive to me.
(I rather go and play with my neighbours or my friends dog instead)

  3. It’s not that great People had completed it with all 1000NGP’s by lunchtime today.
Also Dogz for N-gage should be here too over the next seven day’s
is it going to be near identical ? I’m thinking yes but we’ll see

  4. About Dark Knight ,when Ikona says they are putting togother a enhanced version for N-gage ,he realy means N-gage poit pick up’s will be added and maybe better polished graphics ,
I’ve heard N-gage say the same thing about Glu’s WSOP and that’s the worst N-gage branded title ever.

  5. whats WSOP ?

World serie’s of poker :pro challenge

Its the worst poker game ever it consist’s of 1 v 1 poker and the opponents are identical ,all they did was change the heads of them and add jewelry ,making look like a ccut and paste job lol
I love poker ,i even play poker online but this game i’d rate at 3/10

I’ve been playing several versions of the pet games as in java and of all of them Dogz 3D and Catz was some of the more challenging ones as you can do more and play longer than the Sims 2 Pets.

The most fun of them all was Petz where you could obtain several animals ranging from hamsters to parrots (a total of 7 or 8).

I really had a good time when they were scared because of thunder and you had to pet each of them to comfort them.
And the toys in the game was awesome. One of them was a radio-remoted car that you could pick one of your pets to sit in and drive around the house.

So I can say that I’m a bit dissapointed in Sims 2 Pets as I’ve played better java versions before.
(But hey, there are always better programs and games than others)

I do however feel that it is a bit pricey as Ricky pointed out in the show.

  9. I done some looking into the upcoming title DoGZ i’m 100% confident it will be a lot better than Sims 2 Petz.
It will have better mini games like dog shows dog olympics and a lot of other features.
But The 3rd pary games for N-gage have all been a bit of a let down so far, I Hope Dogz and Midnight Pool can change it for me.

Best N-gage games so far are the one’s nokia had involvment in like COTD , Mile High Pinball and i also like Space Impact, although i found it easy it’s a great game.

  10. The Sims series is great, Nintendogs is great, I love them both, and I thought the N-Gage Sims 2 Pets would be excellent, but…

“Second, there’s a wealth of different activities to do with your new pet,”

Unfortunately not in the N-Gage version. The N-Gage version’s graphics and interface are very good, but there just isn’t anything new to see or do or unlock once you’ve played it for about ten minutes.

    Here’s a little gameplay video:
