The Nokia N96 finally has a shipping date – October 1st. According to Pocket-Lint.co.uk, the new S60 powerhouse (which might have already been upstaged) is set to go on sale across Europe in October, and with several operators stocking it, too. If you’re in Europe, you can stroll into your nearest 3, Carphone Warehouse, Orange, Phones4U, T-Mobile, or Vodafone to pick up the handset, which I nicknamed ‘Widebody’.
If you’re not familiar, the Nokia N96 rocks just about anything you can stuff into a cell phone these days, including a 5 megapixel autofocus camera with Carl Zeiss optics and dual-LED flash, built-in GPS receiver, and dedicated music playback keys. Connectivity includes quad-band GSM (850/900/1800/1900MHz) and dual-band WCDMA (900/2100MHz) with HSDPA for data, and WiFi tacked on, as well. An internal DVB-H tuner offers live TV, and the 16GB of internal storage is paired with a microSD card slot.
No word on pricing, though the official PR for the N96 quoted it at EUR 550 (US$800).
