See What Should Not Be Seen
Several weeks after the timer hidden in the OpenAtOwnRisk.com site expired, we now have mysterious items showing up in Nokia Download! applications around the globe. If you recall, the story goes that long, long ago, hundreds of years ago, a bunch of royal families got together to create a clip. This clip was supposed to be the weirdest thing ever created, and it actually ended up too weird to show anyone, so it was locked up and hidden.
Today, mysterious entries have shown up in my N82’s Download! client, including The Application, The Ringtone, and The Wallpaper. One downloaded, these items require a special code to open. I’ve been trying to open The Application for a while now and can’t get the code figured out.
Perhaps you can? Refresh your Download! client to see if you can figure out what it is.
Update: I’m convinced there’s some 4-digit number hidden in the three ‘historical events’ mentioned in the original teaser: Edison’s lightbulb, the Wright Brothers’ plane, and Apollo 11. I’ve been trying numerous combinations with no luck. If anyone figures it out, please leave in the comments so I can sleep tonite!
Another Update: The OpenAtOwnRisk.com site has been refreshed and now offers a few different ways for you to use the applications from the Download! client to unlock the truly weird video.
[Thanks to commenter Nemoi for the headsup]

its not comin up in my n95-3. Looks like im gonna have to go back to my n82 to see it
Yeah, I found it on my N82, though the tipster found it on his/her E50. I’m guessing it should be on all phones eventually.
nevermind. I just found it lol
check out whats at the openatyourownrisk.com website now. Some fake court summons. This is getting much more fun now
Its on the e61i as well - its in the ‘others’ folder
You can still get to the flash at.

What about the numbers on the “Notice Of Immediate Termination” letter on the website that are “accidently” missed with black out marker? Anyone try those?
4-digit numbers? A year, perhaps?
Wow I just posted about the same thing earlier today :
http://zomgitscj.blogspot.com/2008/07/mysterious-new-item-in-nokia-download.html
I have no idea what the 4 digit code is though
.
I think the application is the key, says go openatownrisk.com and enter the 4 digit code (that is in the openatowrisk page), you put the 4 digit in you phone, the phone gives you another and you put it into the openatownrisk page and the whatever is unlocked.
We will have to wait until the page is back.
Yeah, that things drives me mad. I think it is a date, and I got 0208->4008, but haven’t gotten to 2008 yet. I don’t really see the logic in it yet, but maybe someone with a jest for math puzzles will figure it out…
Nemoi,
What is “0208->4008″ ?
Seriously, stop guessing read my other post
@edward but thats only IF it comes back. Till then we just have to manually link to the flash with the link provided by konceptz
Decompiled. Is only a complex number generator, maybe to be used like a key somewhere. Nothing else.
anyone try adding the years of the 3 discoveries and using the result as the unlock code?
Damn i cant find this in the Download! app of my N95-1
could someone send the installer to me? Microx256 {at} Gmail [dot] com
by adding the 3 years together, it comes out to 5752 (granted IF my research is correct) which after puttin that in, gives 2637. But if even this is correct, still leaves us asking the first question. Where does these numbers go
@Matthes: I guessed that the numbers could be something like DayDay MonthMonth YYYY, so 02.08 brought me close to 2008, but that was just a wild guess…
the ringtone has a fibonacci bar progression. If you write out the temporal sequence, it will give you a 6 digit number which can be used to correlate the wallpaper dimensions, effectively giving you the unlock sequence for the Application.
I would do it, but I have been sworn to secrecy by the Order of Ollila, with consequences of punishment of punishment and possibly death.
Its changed again.
Read the bit at the beginning, then click on the left hand golden arrow, thats where your 4 digit code lies…
(and they don’t joke about it being a weird video)
I’ve broken 3 seals but the final one requires the video download which I can’t find.
Anyone know where it is?
Anyone know where to find “The Video”?
I’ve broken the other 3 seals but “The Video” isn’t showing up in my download list.
openatownrisk.com is back again with active content…
give it a try - it’s just like edward mentioned above…
The website is up again without the “Notice Of Immediate Termination”.
They’ve also changed the sequence.
Use your ringtone and then the wallpaper.
Last use the application to get a key.
>_<
Seem I only managed to break 2 of the seals or something like that.
(Guess I’ll try again after work)
Thanks for the updates on this .-)
The website is available! There are 4 seals to break, I broke one and saw the clip…
cant find the video
then i can break al seals and win the damn t-shirt:P
http://www.openatownrisk.com/main.swf
Is the site working for all of you? I still get the NOTICE OF IMMEDIATE TERMINATION
I’ve actually broken the code without having the video (by chance, randomly clicking the symbols, so don’t ask me for it) before the site went down again, but although I could enter my address to claim the T-Shirt I wasn’t able to submit the form.
Seems like it wasn’t ready to be solved yet
Proof:
http://img356.imageshack.us/my.php?image=nokiaxx3.jpg
P.S.
Really weird clip, can’t get any sense out of it but that’s probably what they wanted.
I’ve got the t-shirt and fortunately it was successfully submitted it.
For one of the seals it says it requires a webcam. I recently got Windows Vista and it appears my webcam isn’t compatible, so I guess I can’t unlock all of the seals to get the t-shirt. What is the webcam used for anyway?
You need a webcam to show a pic of the downloaded wallpaper. You can potentially use your phone as a webcam…
doesnt anyone remebr the symbols for the video? who randomly got it?
Strange. Some of us are still getting the termination letter on that site while others have the way to solve the puzzles already. Hmmm…
You can still open the site when you go directly to
http://www.openatownrisk.com/main.swf
But it doesn’t remeber that i solved it already so i can’t retry to claim the shirt :(.
Did anyone see the video? Or know how to break the code of the video? Did anyone break all four seals and win the shirt?
I think it is too much creating a page like that just to gift 500 shirts, maybe there is something more..?
I have 1 more to go. Im stuck on the ring tone one. I got it but I dont know what to do. record it to the site?
I finally got it! I had to adjust the settings on the comptuer and adobe. it only too me about 3.5 hours
Could someone help with the video, the one that has 6 characters?
Thanks
Each time you solve a puzzle, the top of it opens up, it kinda looks like a special box for an upcoming phone, either that special edition N96 or some other Nseries.
Still no sign of the Download! video for the final seal. Has anyone managed to find it yet? I guess it’s either a problem or Nokia simply aren’t making it available yet.
I can’t understand the whole idea but it seems intriguing!
However, I cannot still find this damn video!
Even a hint and not the whole answer would be truly appreciated!
I got the clue to the video puzzle in another forum - it starts with the egg, then the chicken, the spoon, the rope, the rings and then the playing cards sign, if I remember correctly. I finally got through all four seals, but that stupid video really drove me mad…
i have an imac with built in camera how can i use it with the site, it wont show me on screen lol.
I wish I could download that video when you break a seal. Thats some weird stuff!
Succes, after trying for a reasonable amount of time, I got the shirt and I saw the behind seens, strange nothing new.
No devices, no applications, not even services. Nonetheless Im happy with my t-shirt, I checked like 100 times I wrote the right address, I hope they send it to me fast
how do you get solve the ring tone i tried recording to the site but nothing happened. anyone actually find the video in the download folder?
open at own risk = open symbian, do things at own risk
Ah, Surrealists. What strange things will they dream of next?
guys ive solved it i wanna if they send to u email after applying for the shirt or not???
hey guys iv solved it i wanna know if they sent to u email after that ornot cause i think i wrote it wrong!! :(:(
hey there peepz…
umm i still cannot seem 2 find da 4 digit code
plzzz help!!
well u can solve it by downloading The Application from nokia Download!
Hi. The code is 0000.. It matches, though noting comes up.
Guys,
i don’t have my cell with me so cant try, freakin bags missing at baggage claim at the airport…. but i think 4234 should be tried… just a wild guess..!
Im the one who do the magic tricks, even i dont know the cods, and I cant se the vid, its impossible.
what should i do for the ringtone part? Do i have to show the picture in the web cam?
