There's a great M app called Image Resizer for S60 that uses the MShell 2.2 to run. It allows total custom image resizing! It's available on the Symbian-Freak Freeware page. You really should give it a try. It's exactly the solution you're looking for.

Don't feel bad for lacking 3G. My network HAS 3G, yet is ignored by Nokia. Nokia guesses they can decide for me which carrier I choose, but Sony Ericsson's XPeria1's quadband US 3G radio may do more deciding than Nokia may like.

Amen on the download restrictions. I've conquered them by hackery, but I won't accept Nokia's buffoonery with the next browser. All it did was expose the default system's lacking file handlers.

The simplest way to copy the current page's URL is not to edit a bookmark, but to send the page as an SMS, and copying the accompanying text, then deleting the draft without sending. Sad to be so many steps, but after doing it so long, its second nature to me. Its easy to be happy with a device's workflow in comparison to others, but a better solution is definitely overdue. And hacking shouldn't be necessary, either.

I guess I was just a bit too quick in that lst post about asking about what was happening here.

Your qualms about the out of box experience for a communicator being able to replace a laptop on some tasks are very valid. This is something seen around many Nokia devices, and unfortunately, is jus something I don't see a firmward fix being able to address so easily. Not that it cannot, but that Nokia might come out with a newer device that does things better.

Sitll liking the experiment, and you answer some of the issues I've had questions about. Thanks Rita.

I would like more reviews that consider how few of us are on unlimited data packages. I travel a lot and if gprs is available I'm happy! Also my first favourite gadget (the philips velo) came with the same connectivity as a laptop and I just plugged it in at work. I have always used my gadgets (lately treos) as laptop replacements and the only things I missed were photoshop and html editors. It is possible!
