Keytoss Mobile Portal Looks Good
I got an email this morning from Sam over at Keytoss, asking me to check out the site. Keytoss is basically yet another mobile phone portal, offering a one-stop shop for all your mobile web needs. While that sounds incredibly boring, I can assure you it’s not. After playing around with Keytoss for an hour or so, I have officially added it to my mobile bookmarks, as there are several key features that I think are simply cool, and really handy to have. Plus, it’s free, so why not? Here are the things that really strike me as awesome:
1. Mobile Search - The Keytoss mobile search bar doesn’t just ping Google - it has a drop down list of 15 different search engines, all mobilized and localized. Included in this list is Dictionary.com, IMDB.com, and YellowPages.com. Once you setup an account (free) and set your location, these search results use that location to provide useful results, which is really handy.
2. Customizable - Once you’ve setup your free account, you can completely customize your Keytoss mobile dashboard with modules and links. You can also change the order of these, so that it looks how you want it to. You can pull in feeds from your favorite sites, or you can choose from the growing list of pre-loaded sites (such as Symbian-Guru, of course). There are also a plethora of pre-selected mobile-friendly links to various services and sites, for anything from sports scores to finance to gas prices and WiFi hotspots.
3. Send SMS/email - Partnering with Teleflip, you can send an email or SMS for free through your Keytoss page.
4. File Upload - Your Keytoss account lets you upload files up to 20MB from either your desktop computer or your phone, and then download them within 7 days. This is an extremely handy way to quickly get a file from any computer with an internet browser to your phone. The file is automatically deleted after 7 days, though, so it’s not going to function as an online locker, more like a quick transfer solution if you’re borrowing a friend’s computer or something.
Best of all, you can also customize and access your Keytoss page from any desktop browser at Keytoss.com. Simple, free, and flexible. All three are hard to beat. The service has been running for Windows Mobile and BlackBerry users for a while, but they are wanting to ensure that it works flawlessly on Symbian-powered smartphones, as well. In fact, we have already found, and squashed, one bug. If you find something that doesn’t work quite right, there is a really handy bug report link that you can use to quickly let them know.

Give it a run, and let us know what you think!

Hm, Looks quite great.
Reminds me of the Hypertext addon for Firefox on computers.
(Unfortunately that on can be a bit tricky to configure and you have to restart FF each time for changes to appear)
Will bookmark this one as well.
Curretnly not browsing very much with my mobile so extended test will have to wait from my side.
Thanks for the news
I hate stuff that is littered with ‘only in us’ riders personally
I’m very impressed, enough so that this has become my home page on my N95 now… the thing that got me was the search. One of my favorite features of Firefox is the drop down search bar that you can add different search streams too — this works very similar, and has many of the same engines as my FF. Great stuff!

OK - well I can be a little grumpy in the morning
Now I’ve worked out how to get metric weather forecasts and the bbc, I’m much happier.
Wow. This looks really cool. Start page on my N95 from now on, thanks Ricky!
Hello,
that’s an interesting concept of a mobile portal.
