    i had been debating whether to go with hava or slingbox but i think this made the final decision hava. with a client available for both my N810 and E71, it makes more sense.

    The article doesn’t disclose/mention whether these apps(Slingbox and HAVA) are internationally available, or not. I find this quite odd and inconsiderate, considering that this site has visitors from all around the globe.

    Btw, I did in fact enjoy this write up, thanks. ;)

    EDIT: sorry, for the typos and misspellings in my haste :oops:

    @A1 – I don’t see any reason that they’re not available internationally.

    Just for the simple fact that not all services are always initially available to every country/region, if ever.

    Just a thought, no offense. ;)

    A1 – point taken, and I’ve submitted an email to HAVA to verify. However, it’s not really a service. It’s a hardware box that you plug into your cable box/DVR, and then a selection of applications, for your computer or mobile device, that connects directly to the device. There’s no ‘service’ that you get through HAVA.

    So Ricky, which is better? Hava or Slingbox? I’ve had and used Slingbox before, and can vouch for its excellent performance, but Hava is almost exactly the same device.

    Another option, which is free and requires NO hardware at all is PiipTV, which we reviewed awhile back on Symbian Freak. Its all software, with a PC and S60 client. Its free, so check it out too.

    Christexaport – I’ve had both (in fact, I still technically have the Sling, though it’s not hooked up or anything) and I much prefer the HAVA, frankly, for a few reasons:

    1. Mobile clients are free – not a big deal if you have one handset, but when you have several, plus a Tablet, this is important.
    2. They have a tablet client – when I first got the Slingbox, and set it up on my N95, my FIRST thought was ‘Dang, this’d be SWEET on my Tablet’, and HAVA is.
    3. Ease of connecting – with Sling, you have to use some randomly generated Sling ID, which is a hassle to copy over. With HAVA, you set a unique name for your HAVA box, and that’s what you type in. Mine was ‘RickysHAVA’ or something similar to that (I’ve not set it back up since the move). Ease of setup, imo, is MUCH better with the HAVA.
    4. Blue LED instead of RED. I realize it’s lame, but I don’t like red LEDs

    I was using “services” as an umbrella term, which encompasses hardware, since hardware itself provides a type of service. Sorry, for not being more explicated, on my part.

    I think, it great you’re looking further into the matter.

    I’m sure other readers will appreciate it as much as I do too.

    Keep up the great work(articles), thanks again. ;)
