Huddle Up With Mobile Huddler

Huddle Up With Mobile Huddler

One of the things that we firmly believe in here at Symbian-Guru is community. We’re all active in various forums around the web, and on other blogs, as well. One of the most common questions that I get from friends and family, though, is ‘how do you keep up with all this cell phone stuff?’ It’s a great question, and you can easily go mad trying to get involved in the various communities out there.

The biggest limitation, I think, is that you really need a different site for everything. To me, HowardForums is the best place for discussions and asking questions (after using the Search function, of course), though new users might note it’s a bit confusing in there. To get specs on a given phone, no doubt that Phonescoop is the default place for many, and MobileBurn is obviously the best choice for unbiased reviews and an excellent source for general mobile news (though I may be a bit biased about MobileBurn). So how does one keep up with a forum, specs site, and news and reviews, without wasting TONS of time online?

I was recently introduced to a new site called Mobile Huddler. It’s a pretty cool idea, and after a chat with one of the founders, I have to say I think it’s a great idea. Mobile Huddler incorporates various parts of a forum, specs site, review site, and some news, all in one single place. It’s free to use, naturally, and users can create a profile, and even list the phones they currently own, as well as those they’ve ditched already.

From there, you can easily find other people with the same phone, which is great if you just got a new one and need to learn how to do something, or see if you have a common bug. You can also participate in the regular forum chats, or review phones on there, as well. However, it’s not completely perfect - yet.

My biggest complaint, oddly, is that there is no mobile-friendly version. This is an odd complaint because I very rarely ever visit the mobile version of HowardForums, and I’m not really sure what I would want a mobile version of Mobile Huddler to look like. Perhaps it’s just cause mobile is in the name.

In any case, if you’re new to the online phone scene, or just looking for a change of pace, I’d highly recommend you cruise over and check it out. It’s still growing, mind you, so it may not be as active as your current community, but it’s definitely got some really cool features that aren’t found elsewhere.
