Mail For Exchange v2.7 Now Available

Mail For Exchange v2.7 Now Available

Earlier this month, Nokia announced that it would release its Mail for Exchange application for all S60v3-powered smartphones, including the Nseries and the numbered handsets such as the 6220 Classic. Mail for Exchange is a free application that allows you to access your Microsoft Exchange-hosted account from your pohone, including email, contacts, calendar, tasks, etc.

The new version not only brings support for other models, but also adds autodiscovery for Exchange 2007 accounts. With Nokia also offering its Nokia Email Beta, which is based on Intellisync, it’s good to see them still supporting other email offerings, specifically if you’re a business user who’s miffed that they discontinued BlackBerry Connect.

You can download the new version through the Download! application on your phone, or through the Nokia Business Software website.

Do you already use Mail for Exchange on your S60-powered smartphone? How does it work? Are there any major issues we should know about?

  1. Ricky, your blog is getting better and better, day by day. Thanks for posting so often (BTW, Dotsisx is a really great “aquisition”).

  2. all i want is FULL HTML and i will be very happy!

  3. I have been using MfE for about a year, and can report that it works like a charm on my N95-3. People around me can’t believe I am not using a CrackBerry/WinMo device to get my corporate e-mail (then again, they usually ask me “what kinda phone is that…?”)

In my opinion, the best feature is the “Corporate Directory” (built-in) which allows you to search for a corporate contact in the company’s Global Address List, without that person being in your device’s contacts database. Like Dean said, I would love for MfE to support HTML, and I’d also like for it to handle calendar appointments better (example: when you accept a meeting invite, you don’t get a choice to not send the response to the meeting organizer). But otherwise, this is a great application, well-implemented and integrated with S60.

  4. May be a so stupid question/or complain…but i dont have a microsoft exchange account…can i make one on my E90 (make it in my E90) not on my PC…i mean download the application and start new account…..i cant see a PC for more than 1 month…i will go to (hell) on the borders of my country (Iraq with Turkey) where there is no life.

  5. i use profimail. Can’t believe i have paid for an e-mail app! But then once you start using it, schedule your own download, create your mail rules, its just so addictive. I get my work mails also on profimail.
@Ammar. Well, MfE will work on your e90 only if you have your account on microsoft exchange server. Ask your IT administrator if your company owns one or you can create one id on any of the web hosted ones. For example, mail2web.

  6. @Ammar. Why don’t you give profimail a try. Will cost you around $30 but am sure, you will love it. It will support your current mail account.

Sorry ricky, its a post on MfE but then i was just trying to provide a solution!

  7. Thank you Ashu…i guess i will give Profimail a try…its again from LCG (same developer of Smart Movie and Xplore) its great developer.

  8. Recently I bought a Nokia E71 and am very happy with my purchase.I have also downloaded the latest version of Mfe.The problem is that although i can send/receive mail from my personal a/c’s the same seems impossible for my official a/c.My colleagues who have blackberry supported handsets can log on to the official server by just entering their Username/password/server name. I have been trying to connect for the past 1 month but it just wont work & this handset doesn’t have Blackberry support.Does this mean I need to switchover to a Blackberry supported handset or is there another option.

  9. I just got e brand new E66 with MfE innstalled. I have Windows 6.1 at my last phone, and I miss the options to invite people to my meeting through the phone. Is this possible in Nokia or do I have to choose Windows again?

  10. I use it successfully on my N95, both via 3G and Wi-Fi. However, there is one major issue for me - only one profile is supported. I need two - one when I’m using the office Wi_fi and one when I’m away and using the cellular network. What I have to do today is to edit the profile, change the access point and save. It really becomes annoying when I have to this few times a day.
When they need to provide is multiple profiles with ability to create a new profile from an existing one.

    Other than that, works great.
