Mobbler Maps Volume, Adds Ability To Love
Mobbler, the 2nd greatest S60 application in the world, has recently received a rather quiet update, to v0.24. Mobbler is a free application that ties in to your Last.FM social music profile and scrobbles all the music you listen to on your S60-powered smartphone. Previously, an update to Mobbler changed the application from a background utility to a foreground must-have, adding the ability to stream your personal stations, as well as access to artist and tag radio stations.
This recent update remaps the volume to your device’s built-in volume rocker, typically located along the edge of your handset. In place of the volume controls on the d-pad, you can now mark tracks as Loved or Banned, adding the full interactivity set to Mobbler. Now, when you are listening to a custom or personal station, you can tell Last.FM that you Love a track, and it will be saved and added to your Loved tracks station. Alternatively, you can Ban a track, so that Last.FM knows you don’t like it, and you’ll never again hear it played.
Mobbler is complete brilliance, and something I actually use on a near-daily basis. The ability to instantly create your own radio station, customized to a particular artist or tag, is priceless, and you can use either EDGE, 3G, or even your phone’s WiFi connection to stream your stations.
Download Mobbler here. Note that you also need a Last.FM account, which is free. You can get one here, and don’t forget to poke around a little bit, there’s some good stuff there.

If you want to have a nice app that also includes scrobbling to last.fm, try Strands Social Player: http://www.mystrands.com/mystrands/mob-symbian/symbian.vm

[...] Mobbler has been updated, and now features the ability to both love and ban tracks, as well as the typical scrobbling and whatnot. The Symbian-Guru is a huge fan of Mobbler, and he’s converted me, as well. You will need a free Last.FM account, which you can get here. [...]
