As phontography week comes to an end, we wanted to close it out with a quick round up of a couple photo competitions for mobile imaging enthusiasts.
Sony/Ericsson is sponsoring a competition for mobile photography with a very lofty prize…
The global Expert’s Choice winner will receive a trip of a lifetime to one of five destinations worth approximately £10,000/12,500 EUR.
The global People’s Choice winner will receive a trip of a lifetime to one of five destinations worth approximately £5,000/6,250 EUR.
It appears that a submission can come from any mobile phone as long as it was captured in 2008. Complete rules are available here- and you can enter the World View photo competition here.
The competition runs from now until the end of October.
My own stomping grounds at N95users.com sponsors a monthly competition with a prize of 50 USD. The competition runs from the beginning of every month until the final day where a winner is selected and given the opportunity to choose the theme of the next month’s competition. You just need to be registered on the forum to submit an image. The rules are listed in the first post of the thread each month. This month’s theme is all about images taken with the color tone set to ‘negative’. Pop over to the monthly competition thread to submit an image of your own.
James Burland hosts the N82 and N95 photo awards at NokiaCreative. There’s no cash prize or fancy gadgets being given away- just bragging rights and honor for this one, but who among us couldn’t use a couple more Internet cool points? There are some pretty amazing shots posted in the flickr groups that really show the brilliant potential of mobile imaging.
This past summer there were many other competitions that have unfortunately come to a close already. LG had sponsored a contest where they gave away Viewty devices; National Geographic hosted a competition with a grand prize of a ten day excursion to the Galapagos Islands on a luxurious yacht. It seems that more and more groups are sponsoring mobile phone contests and competitions all the time. I would imagine we’ll be seeing a lot more of this in the future as mobile photography really heats up with mobile enthusiasts and handset makers pushing mobile imaging further and further.
Have you spotted any other mobile imaging competitions out there on the web?
