Amazon Drops N78 NAM Price- 300 USD

Ricky posted a bit on the N78 NAM when it hit Amazon in late June. At the time, the price seemed like a steal at 440 USD, $100 down from Nokia’s own asking price. Amazon dropped the price again on the NAM variant of the device today, and I dropped my jaw; 300 USD. The feature pack 2 device is loaded with AGPS, a 3.2MP camera, a delightful 1200mAh battery that provides 24 hours of music playback with N91 quality and some slick features like the FM transmitter and a Navi-wheel. 300 USD seems like an absolute steal.

I was absolutely thrilled that Nokia announced a NAM variant at the same time of the Euro announcement at MWC earlier this year- but news today of the price drop is even more thrilling. Rita asked a couple months ago if we thought the N78 would bring Nseries to the masses- at this price, I think that’s entirely possible now.

Ricky certainly thinks the N78 is fugly but functional, and while I agree that with the odd keypad it isn’t a beauty by any means- a 300 dollar price tag does a lot to make it more than a bit attractive in some respects.

If this hot new price is tempting you, click away to your new Nseries!

  1. That is a pretty unbeatable price !

  2. Yeah- I was pretty amazed for sure!

  3. Woah.. nice! May need to buy one for the wife and.. err.. borrow it for extended periods of time. :D

Btw, in person I find it one the most beautiful phones ever.

  4. Really? The keypad? You… like? it?

  5. I have not really tried the keypad (for more than 2 min) so not sure on the usability, but the overall looks I love (keypad as a part of it yes).

Have you seen it in real life? At least I found it much more appealing in real life than in pics.

  6. I saw it at the MWC announcement- but I haven’t spent more than a few minutes with it myself. I can’t say if I could get used to it, but I didn’t like the N82- tried to get into it, couldn’t.

Love the feature set- *especially* at this price! :) Absolutely dig the FM transmitter, battery life seems fantastic- Naviwheel is cool- wish my N96 had it.

  7. Oh you have the N96. Nice.. How do you like it? Ricky seemed fairly impressed by the overal experience. I haven’t had a chance to hold it but I love the looks (I guess I am a sucker for the current design language of a few of the N Series devices) as far as I can tell from the pics.

  8. I’m liking the N96 more and more every day. Big fan of the screen. I agree with you on this one- very nice looking device. A NAM variant would easily replace my N95-3 at this point. The battery life is turning out to be pretty damn good. The camera is MUCH faster than an N95 variant or the N82- about 3 seconds to load the camera and less than that for processing an image. Really impressed with that.

It is by far the best looking Nseries device IMO.

  9. thats a pretty decent price for the phone but imo i would still prefer either the n85 or the n96…but back on topic…$300 for a n series phone with everything it has to offer is pretty hard to beat
