Mobile Events Roundup - Mobile2.0, Web2.0, And GadgetFest!
Since we’ve started keeping up with the Symbian-Guru Events Calendar, we’ve seen an influx of announcements and notifications of mobile events taking place around the world. Hopefully you’re finding it to be a great resource, as well! Rather than a single post for each event, I figured a roundup post would be the best way to let you know about the various events, and you can peep on over to the calendar for more information.
First up is Mobile2.0, which is taking place in San Francisco, CA on November 3rd. While I’ll be that direction soon, I’m going to miss this event, unfortunately. It’s not free, there’s a $250 entry fee, but it’s something that Dennis at WapReview recommends, and most of the other things he recommends, I find useful, as well.
Also, at the same time of the Symbian Smartphone Show in London is the Web2.0 Expo, taking place October 21-23rd in Berlin, Germany. Nokia is a platinum sponsor of this event, and there’s sure to be some great things coming out of it. We’ll be sure to keep you posted.
Next up is the CommNexus San Diego GadgetFest 2008, taking place on October 23rd at the Irwin M. Jacobs Qualcomm Town Hall, Building N, in San Diego, California. Every year, CommNexus challenges tech companies to enter their latest technologies into GadgetFest and compete for the coveted title of “Greatest Gadget.” Last year’s winner, Motorola, sported the MC17 portable shopping system, a scanning device that gives shoppers the power to speed up the checking process, locate items, and do price checks. The previous year’s winner, Grand Central, was acquired by Google shortly after GadgetFest. This year, Nokia has stated, ‘We go to win. It’s a great opportunity to get our latest technologies out there, and we can’t wait to hear what the audience thinks.’
CommNexus’ Gadgetfest is $50 for general admission ($45 if you register online before noon on the 22nd) and free for college students (with I.D.). If you plan to attend, *please* let us know, we’d love to feature your videos or other coverage here on Symbian-Guru.com.
All of these events are currently available on the Symbian-Guru Events Calendar, so you can easily get more information.
