Whew, here I am thinking we were going to be stuck with the launch version of the Nokia N-Gage application forever, and the N-Gage blog announces an update that is being pushed out for all devices! Beautiful, sort of. Despite the addition of several new models to the ’supported’ list (including the N85, nice), the N73 and N93(i), both of which were incessantly being used in marketing pieces from N-Gage, are nowhere to be seen.
This new version is only a small incremental update, and doesn’t add any new features to the gaming platform. It does fix several bugs, and should result in a much better overall experience. Mine still has issues using WiFi as the primary connection, but I don’t exactly use it every day, either. You should be able to get the update by choosing ‘Check for Updates’ within the application, though if you’re like me, you’ll likely need to go ahead and download it manually from the web.
Also, over at AllAboutNgage, they were astonished to find that the demo games pre-installed on the Nokia N96 were World Series of Poker and Snakes Subsonic. While I personally find Snakes Subsonic to be a great, albeit short, game, I have to agree that World Series of Poker isn’t exactly the best game to introduce someone to the N-Gage platform. Why not Creatures of the Deep, or Pro Golf? Show off those graphics, Nokia!
