Nokia 5800 XpressMusic Video Roundup
It’s been less than a week, and already the internet is going nuts over this new touchscreen smartphone from Nokia, the 5800 XpressMusic. We’re working hard to get our hands on one, so that we can give you a full rundown and try out a few special things. In the meantime, I figured it was high-time we do a roundup post, to offer you a single post from which you can get all of the videos on this awesome new smartphone.
Below I’ve embedded a handful of videos for you, showing off all the different aspects of the 5800 XpressMusic. I started things off with a great video interview of Mark Fletcher, who was responsible for a big part of the phone’s launch. It’s a very pointed interview, grilling him over the iPhone and how the 5800 XpressMusic stands against it. Interesting stuff.

nice videos summoned up there! good work!
have 2 make my mind ! N85 or 5800!
Nice collection of Video’s, i will make a brew, and sit and watch these
As of right now, i think this phone represents better value than the entire N-series lineup. The only stumbling block I see it lack of a d-pad and hard keypad, which will make operating legacy apps (of which all of us have loads) next to impossible, even if they can be installed on this beast.
Just to let you know, here’s another video I found on the internet:

not for the power user
The one thing I’m mostly interested in is how the device reacts while multitasking when a call, SMS/MMS, email, or other alert comes in. What does the screen do? How does the device react?
I’ve been closely following Android’s development, and love their sliding alerts shutter. I like how its always visible without leaving the work screen. In S60 3rd Edition, alerts cause the device to make sounds and vibrate, but if you’re feverishly entering text or pressing buttons, you’ll be totally oblivious to the alert, since those button presses stop the vibration and audio alerts. Sometimes you’ll be taken to the home screen to see the alert, but its alot to switch screens so often just to see a text message.
How does 5th Edition UI handle incoming communications and alerts? Can anyone post a video of the device receiving a call or communication to show how the screens and interaction with running apps works? If there’s a link, please email it to christexaport@sbcglobal.net.
