Nokia 6650 For $70 From AT&T?
Boy Genius Report had an interesting exclusive this weekend about a Bold and AT&T that’s not really all too interesting. However, what *was* interesting in the leaked email is the line about the Nokia 6650 coming to AT&T on November 4th, priced at $70 after a mail-in rebate and 2-year contract.
If you don’t already know, the Nokia 6650 is a pretty decent phone, with a whopping 1500mAh battery (the same that’s used in the E71, E90, and N810), built-in GPS, and S60v3 Feature Pack 2. U.S. 3G is also included, obviously, and the outer display has little touch-sensitive controls for your music and whatnot. Hard to beat a deal like that, really. I know the Guru household will be renewing our AT&T contracts for a pair of them, for sure.
I’m also hoping that this phone would be the kick-start of a better relationship with AT&T and Nokia, for future phones. If AT&T can keep its grubby mitts out of the firmware (which is yet to be seen on this phone), then the price point is great to really appeal to consumers and get them introduced to the wonders of S60.
And yes, 6650 looks like a pretty sweet deal. Have to check whether we are soon up for an upgrade - this would be great little gift to my wife.
the bold, the fuze, the mirage, the 6650.. plus all the riff raff messaging devices that i am not considering.
at 70 dollars, i don't think i can pass it up.
the bold will go for at least $200, the fuze $300 after rebate.
too bad it does not have wifi though.
do you think best buy or radio shack will have a special on this phone?
this will be my first flip phone since the micro tac lite in 1995.
also i would like to know if i can use google maps agps with out having to subscribe to the at&t gps service.
I do know, however, that Radio Shack and Sam's Club will be carrying it, and they usually don't do the mail-in rebates (meaning it'll cost $70 or less, without having to hassle with rebates). That's about it.
