Qik Pre-Loaded Into 5800 XpressMusic Download

Massive congratulations to Qik, which has already somehow secured a spot in the Download! application loaded on the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic. Typically, to get Qik on your phone, you need to setup an account on your PC and then wait for an activation SMS, which contains a download link. This will make it easier than ever to use Qik for on-the-go live video streaming.

If you’re not familiar with it, Qik is a free application that allows you to send a live video stream straight from your phone to the internet, over WiFi or 3G. The application takes over your phone’s camera and allows you to livestream video no matter where you’re at. Viewers can also chat with you and their messages appear on your phone. It’s a great tool for videoing conferences or other live events, but it’s also great for anyone who simply wants to be able to instantly upload their videos without having to find a computer first.

You can already use Qik on your S60-powered smartphone, just head over to Qik.com on your computer. Note that Qik uses your phone’s data connection, so you’ll only want to use it if you have an unlimited data plan, or are in range of a WiFi access point.

  1. this is gr8. N 85 is fantastic ricky but this phone is completely different. Will definitely keep my n 82 and get this one too.!!
Will the qik on this work with your existing account straight away?

  2. This is great news… The 5800 certainly seems like it could be a really great video capture device.

  3. Did anyone try OctroVideo or OctroTalk? OctroVideo, like Qik, has video streaming. Latest version of OctroTalk for Nokia (Symbian S60 3rd phones) has, besides video streaming, network independent live video call feature and call through SIP provider.
