S60 Ambassadors Now Focusing On Files On Ovi
One more quick update, for those of you located in Southeast Asia, there’s yet another S60 Ambassadors campaign running, this time focused on Files on Ovi. We’ve chatted about Files on Ovi here before, and I’m a huge fan, personally. I used SoonR before, and had switched to Avvenu (the prior version of Files on Ovi) so that I could easily download my .sis files from any phone.
FIles on Ovi is the same great service as Avvenu, only now it uses my Nokia/Ovi account, and it looks more Ovi-ish. FIles on Ovi only works, currently, if you have a Windows-powered computer, and there’s a part of it that runs on your computer. As long as your computer is connected to the internet, you can access any files on your computer through a secure login through any web browser (including the S60 one).
If your computer is powered off, or disconnected, you can pay a monthly subscription to get Anytime Files, which are basically copied from your computer to a server somewhere, so that you have access to them…well…anytime. Prices are competitive, and it’s a pretty nifty service.
According to the Consumed by S60 blog, the four features of Files on Ovi that really stand out are 1. sharing photos 2. downloading files 3. emailing files and 4. viewing Office document and PDF files directly in your browser. Brilliant stuff. You can get setup at the S60 Ambassadors site.
If you’re not in Southeast Asia, the S60 Ambassadors team says to hold tight, there’s another campaign coming in the next few weeks that will be open to anyone, around the globe.
