S60 Blogs Moved, Restructured & Revamped
One of my favorite sites, the S60 Blogs, written by S60 insiders, has just received a full revamp. The S60 blogs, which used to be scattered into at least a dozen separate blogs form marketing to user experience, business, Carbide and C++, java… have now been regrouped into 2 separate blogs.
S60 Living is the first blog and should cover the happenings in the S60 world. In the categories, we can see that the featured topics will be S60 applications, events, devices, news, as well as user experience, multimedia, podcasts and the interesting S60 Ambassadors campaigns.
Developing on S60 is the joint venture of the old “Creating Carbide C++” and “Java for S60″ blogs. As this implies, it will focus on anything that has to do with developing for S60, be it for native applications or Java ones.
The new blogs also look different: they still have their clean design but carry a nicer aesthetic and graphical look. Also, if you’re subscribed to their RSS, then you need to resubscribe to the new feeds. The team has done an awesome job, and you can subscribe to both of the blogs, each of the 2 blogs separately, or even to one particular category or author (on their particular page). Way to go!
As I already commented on the new site’s announcement, a better integration is always a good thing. I used to hate the fact that there were so many different blogs on S60 and that seemingly, the teams didn’t have a lot of internal interaction and conversations. Fragmentation is usually one of the issues with S60, be it in their S60 Blogs or in the actual platform: there’s always some links missing. I hope that the unification of the blogs is a sign of a better and more integrated experience on S60 itself.
