When Nokia announced the N79 back in August, there was no mention of a version that would work with AT&T’s 3G network here in the United States. However, the FCC is a terrible secret-keeper, and has revealed the RM-350, which is, in fact, the Nokia N79, sporting dual-band 3G (850/1900MHz) support for AT&T’s high-speed network.
If you’re not familiar, this candybar smartphone features S60 3rd Edition Feature Pack 2, a 5 megapixel autofocus camera with Carl Zeiss optics and dual-LED flash, as well as user-changeable XpressOn covers that pack a chip that automatically installs and activates a color-matched them on the phone. Pretty nifty stuff, the Nokia N79 is supposed to ship during Q4 2008, priced at EUR350 (US$521) before taxes and subsidies.
