If I’m going to complain about Nokia in the U.S. as much as I do, it’s only right for me to try to support the efforts they *do* make, so last night I went off to AT&T to pick up the Nokia 6650, which was released recently. This is the first S60 product that AT&T has released since the N75, and I’m really pleased to see that, despite the features being improved, the price has gone down considerably, to $69.99 with a 2-year commitment, after a mail-in rebate. You can also buy it for $270 with no contract, if that’s your thing.
First impressions are rather good, to be honest. The phone itself is similar in size to the popular 6555, which is also available through AT&T, and is noticeably less wide than the N75 was. The front and back panels are brushed metal (aluminum alloy, according to the label inside the back cover) and look very nice.
The external display is small, and slightly washed out, but still very usable. I can’t help but wish that Nokia would have used an OLED display, if only for the outside. The inside display is also small, but extremely bright and vivid.
We’ll be going over the phone in detail, from the outside in, over the next few days, but as usual, wanted to open this thread up for questions that you guys may have. Is there anything specific that you’re just *dying* to know about the phone, or things that you’re concerned about? Leave them in the comments, and I’ll make sure to answer each one.
In the meantime, you can also enjoy this gallery that I’ve uploaded to Share on Ovi of the AT&T Nokia 6650.
