Mikko Aro Explains The Nokia E63
One of my favorite things about Nokia is that it puts its product managers out there for all to see, and often allows them to speak relatively freely about the product that they’ve brought to the market. Such is the case today, with Mikko Aro, the product manager for the Nokia E63, which was announced last week. Mikko took some time on video with the Nokia Conversations team to chat about the E63, and some of the decisions that went into the various design and features you’ll find on the phone.
Personally, since I already have an E71, the E63 is of little interest to me. However, I already know a handful of friends who are highly interested, mainly due to its low cost and relatively robust feature set. I like the idea of the bright colors, and also the soft-touch material, as opposed to the fingerprint-loving metal of the E71 that I have.
Enjoy the video below.

Anyway, the two points that stood out for me were: E63 was developed on a tight schedule - i.e. could be even a reaction to the looming economic downturn that was evident already at the beginning of this year as well as just capitalizing on the interest E71 has got. The other thing was the confirmation (rather obvious I guess but still) that the product is aimed at people just entering professional careers and younger folks in general. Well, the third thing was how young some of these product managers are...
Btw, Ricky, I just saw a full page ad on E71 in Men's Health magazine, and two full page ads in the Herald Tribune last week (yes, Herald Tribune is more a Europe/Global oriented paper, but is read by a lot of US businessmen too on planes etc.). Some advertisement effort at least. Men's Health also featured both 5800 and N96 among other phones in their "gadgets to have now" section.
