Nokia E63 Officially Announced

Nokia has officially announced the E63, a little brother to the E71, but with a feature set closer to the E61i. The E63’s keyboard has been modified slightly, with a smaller spacebar to make room for extra character keys. The phone will also be available in your choice of red or blue color schemes, and I’ll confess - the blue is rather striking, and I’m almost wishing I could swap my E71 NAM for it (almost, not completely).

The E63 is also the first Eseries device to feature a standard 3.5mm audio port, and comes with 1GB of free Anytime storage at Nokia’s Files on Ovi service. In any case, the E63 is set to begin shipping within a few weeks, priced at EUR199 (US$250) before taxes and subsidies.

  1. Pricing EUR1990 (US$254) before taxes and subsidies

i know that the dollar became a bit stronger the last few weeks.... but this...

just joking... looks like a kiddie mobile to be true. Does not deserve the famous "E" before the model number.
  2. Heh, thanks for catching that! I'll update the post. I agree, this looks much like a child's toy. I'm also disappointed that they would remove GPS but leave WiFi. Seems to be out of whack with Nokia's recent marketing pushes.
  3. You know Ricky... the E63 looks a lot like Nokia's current crop of cheap phones. Look at the Nokia 1200, 1208, etc... It does seem to look like that. I'm a bit disappointed by that. Not only that, why do only the cheap versions get the torch light?

After making such high quality 'phones' like the E71, its a bit depressing to see a downgraded E71, that too in plastic!

I would still like to trial it and see how the new keys, and design make a difference to the user. Lets hope it happens.
