Nokia Reveals How It Destroys Phones

One thing that Nokia is known for, over the years, is producing cell phones that can take a beating and keep on working. You may be wondering how exactly Nokia is able to engineer such long-lasting phones, and both Mobile Industry Review and AllAboutSymbian were lucky enough to get a tour of Nokia’s hardcore testing facilities in Farnborough, UK recently.

What follows, I should warn you, is some graphic videos, showing Nokia cell phones being beaten, dropped, frozen, and anything else you can think of, in the name of testing. Some parts of the videos are so graphic, I had to take a break from writing this post even (that’s why it’s a few days later than everyone else….)

Now that you’ve been warned….

I’ll say, I’m personally rather astonished and impressed with this for 2 reasons: First, it’s unlike any other manufacturer of nearly anything to open their doors to press like this, and allow video/photos freely. Big Bravo to Nokia for really conversing with and opening themselves up to their fans - I think it rather says alot. Second, I’m sure that other manufacturers have testing facilities like these, but this is seriously impressive. Great stuff.

  3. you're right about not putting the n85 thru this wringer, thing will break during the stress test.
but then again, they did with the n79.. that goes to show you which phone is worth getting for the long haul.
after all this waiting around for the n85 i just might end up getting the n79 afterall. if the thing had xenon it would seal the deal with its ugly keypad and everything.
    february will tell.
