Nokia Updates E66 and E71 Firmwares, Shafts The U.S. Again
This just hit my RSS reader, Nokia has released new firmware updates for both the Nokia E71 and E66, as well as the Nokia Software Updater application. The Nokia E66’s firmware has been updated to v110.07.126 and includes new versions of Nokia’s Mail for Exchange application, as well as an update for Nokia Maps. Various other stability issues have been addressed, as well.
The Nokia E71’s firmware is now at v110.07.127, and includes similar fixes, such as the Mail for Exchange and Nokia Maps. The camera viewfinder has received some attention, as has browsing. In addition to updating the two phones, Nokia’s Software Update application for Windows-based PCs has received an update, so you’ll need to download the new version of that before you can update your firmwares.
Note that, before updating your device, you should use the built-in backup feature, in addition to ensuring that you have a copy of any important data stored elsewhere, should something go wrong. I’ll be updating the firmware on my E71, and will report back here with any additional findings.
You can download the Nokia Software Updater program here.
Update: This is apparently for Euro versions only. My E71-2 NAM is not showing an update. Come on, Nokia, this is *really* getting old, *really* fast.
Update #2: Thanks to Candyman from HowardForums, we have a changelog for the E71 update (I would imagine the E66 changelog is rather similar:

Whenever I recommend Nokia to a friend, I always include the caveat that "they do hate Americans, so you can expect really bad support in the US."
I have 2 questions:
1. When I open the link with Nokia Update News (that you've posted in your article), I find there nothing about FW update for E66/E71. Can you update that link?
2. I have European FW, but no updates are available through NSU nor the "Can I update" at Nokia pages doesn't show any update. Have you any information on Product codes that should be updatable now?
Thanks,
roberts
I'm thinking they don't care for us Canadians all the same. Nokia just doesn't see North America as a worthy customer base.
Is there software to hack or change all the hardware buttons?
I'm guessing since there is no mention of it, that there is not a camera button fix? Perhaps maybe not ever. I'm forever in a love hate relationship with Nokia.

And yes, i did update it againafter the first two crashes, just in case something went wrong.
And no, the camera button doesn´t start the camera, though i don´t know about the other problem (upside down pictures or something) as i didn´t have the problem on old firmware.
Turn off the mobile device. Then press and hold “3″, the “Green button” and “*” - Turn on and keep holding until the phone fully restarts. If successfully, you’ll be asked to reenter the date, time, city, etc. Its tough but it works
I had tried multiple update factory reset and even *#7370# all didn't work.
Its fully functional now. No crashes and not very slow. I don't know what the diff. is but it worked.
It might just be crappy firmware but I think its worth a try?
