Nokia ViNe Finally Launches

Nokia ViNe Finally Launches

After much hooing and hawing Nokia has finally publicly launched its Nokia viNe service. The new service was announced several months ago, at the same time as the Nokia N79 and N85 smartphones, but is only  just available for download today.

Nokia viNe is basically a prettier version of Nokia’s Sportstracker service, and uses your phone’s built-in GPS receiver to track where you go, what photos you take, and what music you’re listening to. This “vine” is then uploaded to the Nokia viNe site, so you can easily share with others.

You can head over to the official site to register and download the application. At this time. the only phones that are officially supported are the E71, N78, N79, N82, N85, N95 8GB, and N96. What’s oddly missing from that stack? Yeah, the N95 and the E66, both of which are exactly the same (inside) as another device on the roster. Silliness? We agree.

In any case, cruise over, sign up, and let us know what you think.

  1. Just did it with my nokia 95-1, no prob at all so far, just choose n95 8gig as my device.
  2. wow I really liked the video they made, was funny!

this is one of the biggest achievements of Nokia! it looks slick and it is simple!

so excited... installed to N95-3 choosing N95 8GB, seems to work...
  3. Both the N95 and E66 have 950 mAh battery only - that could be the reason, why they are not offered in the list. But good to know that it still works :-)
  4. Now only if they add the privacy and group features! I only want to share my vines between my friends and family, not the whole world.

Also, on the N85, the app says it is not compatible with the phone !!??
  5. I think it is a bit pointless, sportstracker is loads better

and then of course there is Friend View

How many of these services does nokia need
  6. I kept waiting for N Vine for a long time, this morning I was so excited about it, I installed it right away on my N95 8GB before going to run at the park. Right now I´m uploading the journey, it´s pretty slow compared to Nokia Sports Tracker, and I don´t know yet if I can combine the data from NST with the Vine... i´m a little bit disappointed, for the time we waited, I was expecting some more features. One thing I didn´t like either is, it tracks all the songs that appear on the current playlist, even if I skip one.
  7. I got it working on my N95-1 as well. Although it seems to work pretty well it feels just a bit slower than sportstracker. Other actions, like taking a picture are a bit slower.

What I didn't know was that viNe and sportstracker are using the same data. I created a record on viNe and it showed up on sportstracker as well.
  8. I'm gonna try this out in a few days!
  9. It doesn't open on the 5800. I guess I will use SportsTracker for now.
  10. Is this app working for the N85, ive used it on my n95-4
