S60 Isn’t Picky With Music
One of my favorite things to do at events is chat with the representatives there, and find out what other people have been most interested in. I love reading and hearing about the things that stand out to regular consumers, as it’s often very different from the things that you or I, being slightly geekier, would pick out. Case in point, this great post from Charles over at the S60 Living blog.
Charles was posted at the 5800 XpressMusic area at the Symbian Smartphone Show in London recently, in charge of demoing the new S60 5th Edition interface to passersby. He was rather interested to see that while some people were interested in the touch interface and all, even more people were intrigued to see that S60 also supports various other music formats, aside from just the Nokia Music Store.
We’ve covered this before, that you can use nearly any online music store that uses Microsoft’s PlaysForSure DRM with your S60-powered phone. Newer phones with S60v3 Feature Pack 2 (and obviously, everything else going forward, such as S60 5th Edition) even natively playback .WMA and .WMV files with ease.
Great stuff, and definitely something that’s easy to forget. Don’t forget, also, that you can use MP3s purchased from AmazonMP3, which are DRM-free, on your S60-powered phone, as well.
