S60 Theme Maker Showcase – PiZero
You really can’t have an “S60 Theme Maker Showcase” series without mentioning the one person who has risen to become what everyone calls “Theme Master”. Hence, after dedicating the first 3 weeks of this series to relatively less famous themers, we’re looking today at probably the one “theme-lebrity” around: PiZero.
PiZero entered my list of must-follow theme makers a long time ago, in July 2007, before he even became famous for his works of art and was featured on every S60 website. It is particularly two themes he made that left me speechless and kept me waiting for his newest creations. These themes are H2O and Manhattan and back when I had my Nokia 3250, they made my screen so shiny, I felt like PiZero had found the secret ingredient to turn on all the lights down under my screen. All other theme makers seemed to be missing that “shiny” factor, and H2O and Manhattan remain until now, two of my favorite themes ever, and I can only hope that Pizero will one day remake them with a newer iconset.
Since then, PiZero’s style has evolved a lot, his icons are cleaner, his themes are more graphical, more eye-friendly, … more perfected. PiZero hasn’t lost his “shiny” factor, and even though many other theme makers have found the secret recipe, like DhanuSaud and Rugge for example, he still remains the one and only “Theme Master”, with a signature of his own although he provides different theme styles. His themes are now either SVG, either QVGA adapted for landscape, and come with 3 different icon sets: the default S60 icons, the Flahorn icon set, and PiZero’s own icons.
