Unboxing The Nokia N85 Euro

Unboxing The Nokia N85 Euro

I’ve drooled over it for a few months now, and looked at my N95-3 with scorn, anxiously awaiting the Nokia N85. You’ve read reviews, sure, but today we’re bringing you the official Symbian-Guru Nokia N85 Unboxing video. There will be laughter, and tears, as the N85 escapes from its box, ready to attempt to dethrone my N95-3 as my go-to device.

The Nokia N85, as you likely already know, packs in tri-band UMTS (this is the Euro version, so its 900/1900/2100MHz, which should work, halfway, on AT&T’s 3G network), a 5 megapixel camera with active lens cover and dual-LED flash, 8GB microSD card, microUSB charging, and that wonderfully beautiful OLED display. I’ll be putting it through some hardcore testing over the next few weeks, as this phone has some big shoes to fill.

Until then, enjoy the video, with a cameo by Abilene, the official Guru Dog:

  1. Great Video Ricky.! Looking forward to see how you get on with the n85, as I have started reading about many people having issues with the build quailty, in particular, the front navi keypad, where in some cases has either cracked from a light fall, or come away from its bonding.

Its the Copper version by the way, hence the colour back.

Good to see Abilene again too

    Where you heading in Europe?
  2. You got your hands on an excellent phone guru.

I had to buy the phone, but it has been completely worth it.

    A few points -
    * The back color is Copper, but gives a nice different aspect to the phone with a Black front and a Copper back.

    * Was the game preinstalled with 3 demos and keys to activate one of them or you can activate all of them?

    * Do check the preinstalled apps and give us a list of the apps, and with the Indian edition, except for Oxford Dictionary and Theme DIY (which i do not use), there were no other commercial apps preinstalled.

    * I hadnt even seen that the software disc was a DVD, but sadly, all that i had on my disc was the OVI suite which is still not good enough for me to replace the Nokia PC Suite.

    * You will not be able to make a complete judgment of the screen until you have tried out this theme by DhanuSaud. This theme looks simply fabulous on the N85. Blackish Red by Dhanusaud for FP2. Get it over here - http://www.mediafire.com/?ntgyt4njmu0
  3. I forgot, use the theme at full brightness to enjoy it.
  4. i've had my copper n85 for 6 days now, and its lovely, just waiting for new firmware as it has restarted on me several times
  5. are you serious micky?
i'd die if my 500 dollar device falls appart on me... i am shopping for other 3G high end phones since nokia is not stepping up its game... sad to say.
i actually went to purchase the fuze yesterday, but after 20 minutes with the demo i put it down and walked away from it.
i guess it takes time to get used to the not so responsive touch flow. but the whole stylus thing and the high res it was like reading teeny beety letters

    i am still longing a nam n82.

I've been reviewing the Fuze for MobileBurn the past few weeks. It's actually quite a nice device, but the sluggish UI *is* really annoying. Apparently the unbranded ones are snappy, so if you bought it you could likely apply a cooked rom to get rid of the AT&T branding, but don't quote me on that.

In any case, I'm pretty pumped to see how well the N85 fills the N95-3's rather large shoes. My N95-3 is a workhorse, despite the age and old firmware.

I must admit that Nokialino is also amazing. But i still prefer Blackish Red as it continues with the phone complete royal black and minimalistic theme. Hence, it looks better to me.

It was the only theme i had been using ever since i got the phone, for some reason, i simply could not get myself to look at my phone in any other colored theme!!

But been using Nokialino since yesterday, glad to have found a similar yet different theme.
