Google Maps Mobile With Streetview On 5800 XpressMusic
We let you know that the native S60 Google Maps Mobile client was updated recently, adding in the ability to use Street View, among other improvements, and one thing that some people noticed quickly was that this new version works beautifully on the Nokia 5800 XpressMusic, which has the full touchscreen and high-resolution display. Our friend Tnkgrl was kind enough to put together a really stunning demo of how well this works, so I wanted to highlight that video here, so you could see it.
I’ve just gotten my 5800 XpressMusic in yesterday, and will be giving it a go over the next week or so, to see how all the features work. Expect to see coverage of the various easter eggs in this fun device pop up here on Symbian-Guru soon. Without further ado, here’s Tnkgrl:

- I looks quite nice with the touch interface and all, but I don not understand why the screen is not used?? Those two buttons to the left do not need to be that big at all! I have seen this in other S60 5th ed. programs and wondered about it every time. Perhaps it has got something to do with that s60 was designed for another aspect ratio and in stead of thanging it all right away for all areas/programs of S60 5th it is kept because of some level of back- and forward compatability?? But is seems kind of strange as it takes up a big part of that nice new screen :-(
