Keytoss, our favorite mobile portal here on Symbian-Guru, has just been updated to include four new travel tools. These tools are already available on your Keytoss portal, under a new page entitled “Travel”. The 4 tools are Flight Status, Currency Rates, Translations and Snow Conditions. Let’s go over each one briefly.
Flight Status
Flight Status is a very nice tool for the frequent travellers that allows them to search for flights by their departure date, airline and flight number, and gives them the latest status, the estimated departure time, as well as the arrival time. You can also choose to monitor the flight which makes it easy to keep an eye on it each time you refresh the page. In the advanced mode, you can set it up to automatically save the flights.
Currency Rates
This one is my favorite, since I live in Paris and hence use the Euro currency in my everyday life, but I always have to compare it to the USD which is quite standard back in Lebanon, and I shop online on a UK store that uses GBP as a main currency. I always end up clueless about the exchange rates between each currency. With Currency Rates set up to show me back and forth rates between EUR, USD and GBP, I now have one page I can check whenever I need to keep updated them. I would’ve loved if there was a converter built-in, but I guess it’ll come later.
Translations
Another great tool for the frequent travellers is Translations, which uses mobitra.mobi’s database to translate between 15 different languages. It’s a pretty fast translation and a decently accurate one, so it’s a great tool to have under your fingertips when travelling to a foreign country which language you don’t understand/speak fluently.
Snow Conditions
This last tool is probably of very low importance to me, as I don’t ski a lot, but I bet it could be of very high priority to those who are skiing fans. You can add ski resorts from all over the world, and monitor the status of the snow and the open terrain. You are also given a link which will open OnTheSnow’s page and give you all the information related to the said resort with detailed status, reviews, nearby resorts…
I have recently been introduced to Keytoss, and I have been enjoying the portal a lot, especially the tons of search engines available from one page. But these new travel tools, even if I’m not a frequent traveller, are of great value to me, especially Translations and Currency Rates.
