Nokia 7610 Supernova Matches Colors
We typically don’t report on S40-powered phones here at Symbian-Guru.com because, well, they’re not Symbian. However, there’s a really cool feature on the 7610 Supernova that I wanted to highlight, hopefully it’s something that’ll come to the Nseries really soon. I had actually gotten my own video, but the Nokia Conversations blog got one in higher quality, so I’m going to use theirs, instead.
Basically, this feature lets you focus the phone’s camera on any object, and it will attempt to match the color. This can then be applied to the color scheme of the phone’s menus, as well as the light ring around the d-pad. It can be any color, which is really cool. For girls, you could match your phone’s menus and d-pad to whatever outfit you’re wearing that day. Guys, well, it’s just plain cool (maybe you’re not so concerned with matching things).
Nokia has been tinkering with this sort of technology for a while now. We first saw the user-changeable keypad backlights on the 7900 Prism, and then thankfully it later showed up in the first S60 phone, the 6650. Now, we have an evolution of this feature showing up on another S40 phone, so it’s only a matter of time before it comes to S60, as well.
What do you think? Is this a really cool feature, or am I just easily impressed?

- Uhmm... Any use? Maybe nice for a s40 PHONE but not for a s60 Multimedia Computer

- They have started re-using the numbers. As far as I remember, there was a pretty decent S60v2 phone with the same model number, but without the 'Supernova' tag. BTW, the colour-matching feature is cool, but just like transitions. Bloggers often comment, "these transitions are cool, but I switched them off after 5 mins". I think, the use of these things will be far more insignificant.
