One of the lesser-publicized announcements from Nokia World 2008 last week is the new Nokia Home Music device. This small home stereo features built-in WiFi for connectivity, and allows you to enjoy internet radio, podcasts, or even locally-stored music, easily. To be honest, while I completely realize that the functions of the Nokia Home Music device are redundant, specifically if you’re an Nseries owner, I’m still really fascinated with it, and kind of want one.
The interface basically looks as though they’ve lifted the Nseries music player and applications and stuffed them into this small white radio. It’s very easy to navigate, and updates are automatically delivered over the internet connection, which should make for a smooth user experience.
As you’ll see in the video, it’s plenty loud, though you could also easily plug this thing into your existing home stereo, if you have a killer system setup at home. Pricing is undetermined, but it was hinted that it would be below the $300 mark, which is good. Estimated availability is Q2 2008.
