Wow, the Nokia N79 has just received its first official firmware update, and a whopper it is! The phone has only been out on the market for a month or so, and was recently updated to v11.049. The gang over at S60inside got ahold of the changelog, and this is quite possibly the longest changelog, ever!
Pretty much every single feature on the Nokia N79 was touched in some way by this new firmware update, which should be available both through NSU and using the built-in Firmware OTA feature (accessed by pressing *#0000# from the standby screen). We’re not quite sure if this is limited to specific product codes just yet, so even if you have a NAM unit, it’s worth checking for.
I’ll be honest, I believe that one reason Nokia doesn’t typically release full changelogs is because it shows the faults that exist in current products. I’m somewhat stunned at the size and detail of this changelog, and have to wonder, just how ‘beta’ was this phone, if the first changelog is fixing so many things?
If you’re interested, you can check out the full changelog here. We typically don’t cover changelogs for firmware here at Symbian-Guru, since most of the time, a new firmware is definitely a recommended install.
