Did not work for me, becaused I installed (and un-installed) PC Suite previously not using compatibility mode. Using Nokia_PC_Suite_Cleaner_7_1_1.exe (from Nokia website)and re-installing in compatibility mode solved my problem.

    thanks for this post !

Unfortunately, it didn’t work for me.

Installation is ok, pairing with a E71 is ok, file explorer works fine, but no sync nor messages/calendar view is possible.

    Anyone has an idea?

I found a solution that worked for me.

On top of following the above tips, I had to manually change the compatibility settings for each executable file in the ProgramFilesNokiaNokia PC Suite 7 folder

    1. right-click properties
    2. choose compatibility tab
    3. select change setting for all users (bottom part of the window)
    4. choose Windows VISTA
    5. click run this program as admin
    6. click ok

Hey, guys.. thanks a lot for your help. I have a new SONY Laptop i bought yesterday with Windows 7 Home Premium 64bits. I was able to install the regular Nokia PC Suite ver 7.1.26.0, but I was having problems on installing the NokiaSoftwareUpdaterSetup .. it said that the OS (Win 7) was not compatible. So, I did the settings above and let me do the installation.

Now I will test to see if my Nokia e71-2 (not the AT&T version) will update the firmware. My current version is an old 100.07.76, I would like to get the new version 200.21.118. I hope this will do the job.

    VOIP QUESTION
Does any one know or use the Internet Tel(VOIP) via the 3G network? I was able to configure my VOIP providor (Broadvoice) to wrok great with this current ROM, but when I lose 3G or even voice service, i cannot reconnect to the VOIP service.. it keep saying that it cannot connect, try later… not even the WIFI. So, I have to reboot the phone and then it connects fine. I hope the new firmware version will solve my problem.

    Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

    Hello,

I just wanted to contribute another solution to the problem:

If you’ve got Windows 7 Pro or higher, you can Download and install “Windows XP Mode” from Microsoft. It’s an Emulation which works great, and can even run Nokia PC Suite.
I tested it on Windows 7 Pro x64 with 2 different phones, and there were absolutely no problems. Runs just like under XP.

    Greets,
    BMan

Brilliant! Thanks so much for this! When Ovi Suite first came out I was uber-excited, but it turned out to be a massive disappointment compared to the v7 PC Suite. I particularly love that I can backup/export my SMS messages in v7, something I could not do in Ovi Suite…

    Thanks again!

thanx heaps mate was pretty pissed of when couldent install my phone software i used samsung pc suite and this process worked exactly the same way cheers

  • Sarwar

Hi, I followed the same process what you told. But still the problem is not resolved. When i connect my phone (nokia 5800xpress music/nokia 6233) its not detecting automatically. Though the system is detecting as data storage device where i can browse through my mobile contents(memory card+phone memory). But when i open pc suite, its not detecting it automatically and when i tried to set the connection, one pop-window comes where we have to specify the connection type (cable/bluetooth/infrared), but these options are not highlighted that i can select. I don't what to do? I tried every possible way. Now going to install ovi suite. Let's hope it would work. Please suggest from your experience.
    Thanks,
    Sarwar
