Online retailer Play.com has posted a pre-order page for the upcoming Nokia N97, with the release date of March 31st, 2009 listed. The pre-order is listed at GBP 479.99 (US$707), with free shipping, and lists the white version, specifically. Nokia announced the N97, its 2nd touchscreen S60-based smartphone, late last year in Barcelona at Nokia World. The N97 packs in a 5 megapixel camera with autofocus and dual-LED flash, as well as a massive touchscreen and slide-out QWERTY keyboard.
Nokia originally announced that the N97 would be available in the first half of 2009, so the March 31st timeframe is definitely believable. It should be noted that this is the Euro variant, with tri-band 3G (900/1900/2100MHz). According to the Product Managers I spoke with, the NAM variant, also with tri-band 3G (850/1900/2100MHz) is expected ‘within weeks’ of the Euro variant.
