This popped up on the Forum Nokia blogs, and I thought it was rather interesting. Developer Paul Coulton has gotten back into location-based services, and come up with Point’N'Seek, a new search application that uses your location, as well as other sensors to take a flashlight approach to location-based searching.
The application uses sensors such as the phone’s accelerometer, GPS receiver, and built-in compass to determine where you are, and what direction you’re facing. You can also search in a specific radius around you, which might also be convenient.
The Point’N'Seek application is not yet publicly available, but it’s something that Paul Coulton is working on, and is definitely something that I would like to see integrated into Nokia Maps (which currently has a basically useless search function). At this point, the application runs (obviously) on Paul’s Nokia N85, and they’ve got the d-pad working for control.
