In yet another sign that Samsung is beginning to take its S60 license a bit more seriously, the team at AllAboutSymbian have found a dedicated forum, hosted by Samsung. Samsung’s looking to hear from its S60 users on what applications have compatibility issues with its phones, so that they can help get that sorted out. You can check it out more here, and if you have an S60-powered Samsung, such as the i8510 Innov8 or the i7110 (lucky!), then it’s definitely a good idea.
I have to say I’m 100% behind this, and hope to see both LG and Samsung making better use of their S60 licenses in the near future. Nokia clearly dominates the S60 scene, and it’s good to see them being pushed by the competition around S60. The Samsung i8510 Innov8 pushes the limits with S60 and cameras, both in the marketing-driven megapixel count and the innovation-driven software enhancements, such as digital image stabilization and facial recognition. LG has done its share, as well, with the KT610. It’s not much to write home about, but it’s QWERTY for the masses, in a familiar form factor.
Good job, Samsung, I’m hoping you’ll continue to push further in 2009 as a major contender in the S60 field.
