There’s still several weeks before Mobile World Congress kicks off in Barcelona, Spain, but that’s not too far for unannounced handsets to be leaked out, including the Nokia 5730 XpressMusic from earlier this week, the second non-Eseries QWERTY S60 smartphone ever. We now have live pictures of the previously-rumored Nokia E75, which I have to say, is extremely attractive.
This unannounced smartphone carries on the same design cues as the E71 and E66, with its shortcut buttons around the d-pad and chrome-accented color scheme. The E75 basically looks like an Eseries’d 5730 XpressMusic, but with a few specific things that I want to point out. First up, you’ll notice in the picture below that it’s using the new S60v5 Touch icons, not those atrocities that we see on the E71 and E66. Bravo, Nokia, you listened. Also, the font – it doesn’t have that horrific dot-matrix typeset like we saw on the 5730 XpressMusic photos.
I am, however, disappointed in the 3.2 megapixel camera. And single LED flash. Why, Nokia, can’t you just give the Eseries a 5 megapixel camera and the Nseries an 8 megapixel unit by now? You’ll also notice that Download! is still present, which hints that Nokia doesn’t intend to replace it anytime soon, which is a shame.
Either way, if I was a betting man, I’d say we’ll likely see this bad boy announced at the 2009 Mobile World Congress in Barcelona next month. I would also say that I’m probably going to go ga-ga over it, and as long as there is a NAM variant, I’m going to purchase one, and I’m going to love it. As much as I love my Nseries, the flexibility of the Eseries Active Standby, combined with this most excellent form factor has just about won me over as an Eseries convert.
What about you? Are you lusting over this, or are you still hung up on that whole touchscreen fad?
