Did you notice by now that we’re big fans of Synble here at Symbian-Guru? No, you didn’t? Then I bet you do now. So, I’ve been leaving Synble running in the background for a few days, and I found another example of how it integrates perfectly well with my everyday life.
Here’s the scenario: I receive an SMS message containing a link. I try opening it on my phone, and it opens a HUGE webpage, not formatted for my phone’s screen. Of course the S60 browser does a good job of rendering it, I see what it’s all about, but I don’t have time to read the whole thing, because I have a life y’know. Later I’m sitting in front of my computer and I think “hey, why not read that long article I was sent earlier?”.
Question: what do I do?
- Do I open the SMS, leave my phone in front of me and manually type an address that might be 4 or 5 lines long on my computer’s browser?
- Do I open the webpage on my phone then forward it as an email to myself so that I can open it on my computer?
- Do I give up and simply open and read the webpage on my phone again?
- None of the above.
Answer: 4. None of the above. I simply open my own Synble page from my computer and voilà, the link is there! Clickety-click and the magic is done.
I’ve been using this trick for links I receive through my Jaiku updates by SMS, and I can assure you that it’s a blast. It should work for link-containing Twitter SMS updates as well. It’s even more awesome when I have the Google Talk integration running, so I don’t even have to open my Synble page to immediately check a link from my computer. Thank you Synble :)
