For a while now, we have been blessed by wonderful themes sporting the new Ovi iconset by Flahorn. NaHiD and PiZero are the most prominent users of these icons, and they have produced some awesome work lately, of which my new favorites Mix Blue and Spyro. But just yesterday, courtesy of James Whatley on Twitter, we were given a link to a new Ovi Blue theme which you can download here and install on any S60 3rd Edition device. Even though I like the blue and green colors, I was a bit reticent to see them together in one theme. But lo and behold, they look awesome on this Ovi Blue theme!

The theme is apparently officially made by Nokia, and it shows: the icons are more brushed than the Flahorn ones, some of them are even different and more elegant. The theme also comes with theme sounds so that when you first apply it, it asks you if you want to also apply the theme sounds: these are 2, a messaging alert and a ringing tone. Both of them are really nice to hear. There is also a .swf file that you can choose to apply as screensaver.
To tell you the truth, I never thought that I’d say this given the awful history of official Nokia themes, but currently, Ovi Blue is my favorite theme. It’s bright for outdoors, clean, simple, uncluttered, and it gives my E71 a new life. Well done Nokia! Now how about releasing a few others? Ovi Red maybe, or Ovi Brown. I love brown themes.
How about you? Do you like this Ovi Blue theme? Do you appreciate Nokia’s effort to bring these new Ovi icons to older handsets? And what other themes or colors would you love to see from Nokia?
