Just a few days before the 2009 Mobile World Congress, Nokia has already announced one of the newest S60-powered smartphones, the 5630 XpressMusic. This candybar is powered by S60 3rd Edition Feature Pack 2, and boasts its size as the thinnest N-Gage compatible cell phone yet. Available in red, blue, or silver color schemes, the 5630 XpressMusic offers an updated version of the Contacts Bar that we first saw on the 5800 XpressMusic, this time with up to 20 contacts, as opposed to the standard 4 available on the 5800 XpressMusic. Hopefully they’ve also made it easier to add feeds for your contacts.
Other specs for the Nokia 5630 XpressMusic include a small 2.2″ QVGA display, 3.2 megapixel camera with dual-LED flash, microSD card slot, and a secondary, front-facing camera for video calling, where supported. The standard Share on Online is on board, though interestingly, it mentions support to send photos directly to Share on Ovi, Flickr, or even Facebook. Hopefully other S60-powered smartphones will get the Facebook integration soon, as well.
The 5630 XpressMusic is well connected, with quad-band GSM (850/900/1800/1900MHz) and dual-band UMTS (900/2100MHz), with HSDPA and HSUPA for super-fast 3G connections. WiFi is also on board. The phone packs a standard 3.5mm audio port, with Bluetooth 2.0 and A2DP support for stereo Bluetooth headsets.
Dedicated music playback keys are located along the edge of the phone, and it also supports the Say and Play feature, which we saw previously. The Nokia 5630 XpressMusic is expected to be available in Q2 2009, with pricing set at 199 EUR (US$258), which isn’t bad, at all. There will also be a Comes With Music version, though pricing details on that version were not given.
