Finally, Nokia has answered the call of its S60 users, and announced its new Ovi Store. The store will use social location to recommend applications for you. First pre-installed on the Nokia N97, with a downloadable client in May for other devices, the Ovi Store will use your location to offer suggested downloads, such as travel guides. Also, Nokia has created an advanced recommendation engine, which will suggest downloads and applications based not only on your own purchase history, but also on the history of your friends.
In addition to the Ovi Store, Nokia has opened Publish.Ovi.com, designed specifically for developers and other content owners to upload their content to Ovi Services, and monetize. The store will offer a 30-70 revenue split with developers, which is very good, and will allow developers an easy one-stop shop to monetize their applications and content.
We’ll have more coverage of the new Ovi Store here on Symbian-Guru.com as more details come available.
