Today Nokia announced the E55, claimed to be the world’s thinnest smartphone. This Eseries candybar is the first Nokia to feature a 20-key ‘compact QWERTY’ keyboard, though I for one am not too sure about that keyboard layout. The E55 is super thin, measuring only 9.9mm (.4″) thick, as well. The E55 packs in a 3.2 megapixel camera with LED flash, and the new EDOF lens as the 5620 XpressMusic.
The Nokia E55 follows in the E63′s footsteps, with a standard 3.5mm audio port, which is great to see. It also has a dedicated camera key, which, according to Nokia reps, actually launches the camera app, which is finally nice to see. The smartphone also features N-Gage support, which is a first on the Eseries line, and again, really nice to see.
You can check out the full specs of the Nokia E55 below. There will be 2 variants, both with tri-band 3G (900/1900/2100MHz for Euro and 850/1900/2100MHz for NAM), and the phone packs in HSPA+HSUPA for faster upload speeds, and WiFi for when you can’t get a 3G signal. As expected, GPS is also on board.
